ⅠFaculty Introduction

FME begun to enroll graduate students in 1986 and was listed as one of the key disciplines of Yunnan by Board of Education of Yunnan Province.FME begun to enroll doctoral students of Management Science and Engineering in 2010 and it is one of the earliest first-class discipline doctoral program approved in Southwest. In 2010, the Postdoctoral Station of Management Science and Engineering was established in FME and it is now a key subject at the provincial level.

After years of construction, FME now has 30 professors,41 associate professors, in which 58.4 of them are with doctor’s degrees. There are 24 postdoctoral associate professors,31 doctoral supervisors and 71 master's Supervisors in FME.A number of teachers have the learning and training experience to countries and regions such as Germany, The United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Italy, The United Kingdom and Hong Kong.FME hires domestic and foreign famous scholars and entrepreneurs as visiting professors and invites them to conduct academic communications at regular intervals which accelerate to the improving of teachers professional level. Meanwhile, FME hires more than 20 famous scholars and entrepreneurs throughout the country as guest professors.

FME has the first-class discipline of Postdoctoral Station and Doctoral Program in Management Science and Engineering, the first-class discipline of master degree program in Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration and Applied Economics and also master degree program on second-class discipline of Educational Economy & Management, FME also has 2 professional master degree programs,1 MBA authorization point and 6 undergraduate programs.

FME has 1 Yunnan Philosophy and Social Science Research Base and 7 Government-School-Enterprise Cooperation Platforms including Yunnan Health & Wellness Management Institute, Yunnan Financial Engineering Institute, Yunnan Investment & Financing Policy and Project Management research Institute, University Food Safety Research Institute, Food Safety Supervision and Management Institute, Yunnan Forum Secretariat, Economic & Cultural Development Promotion Center, FME also has 1 construction project of a New Type Think Tanks of Yunnan Colleges and Universities, one provincial level innovation team and four school-level innovation teams, three discipline-teams and fifteen college teams.

FME has an office building with the area of 6736 square meters, includes 71 rooms with total area of 1525 square meters, in which 34 of them are stuff rooms with usable area of 3174 square meters,4 of them are laboratories with usable area of 570 square meters.

In the last four years, FME added 1 specialist who enjoy the state council special allowance,1 national outstanding teacher, and 2 Yunnan principal investigators. Teachers of FME has published 532 papers(60 in category A,246 in category B) and 85works(78 monographs,6 compilations and 1translation).

There are 207 newly approved projects, the funds of which has reached 28.41 million Yuan. These projects include 27 projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China,4 projects from the National Social Science Foundation of China,1 project from other national ministries,8 projects from Ministry of Education,19 projects from Department of Science and Technology,37 projects from Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science,15 projects from Provincial department level,11 projects from Office of Education,31 provincial(school) talent development programs,32 horizontal project cooperated with enterprises and 10 other projects.

FME gained 16 provincial awards, including 2 provincial first prizes of philosophical and social sciences,2 provincial second prizes of philosophical and social sciences,10 provincial third prizes of philosophical and social sciences and 2 third prizes of technical progress. There are also 13 patents in FME(4 software copyrights,5 invention patents and 4 domestic practical patents).

ⅡDiscipline Characteristics

The disciplines of FME set “take the lead in province, take first-class southwest and wield influence on domestic and international” as goal, take “grasp international and domestic subject frontier, rich practical experience of China’s indigenous management” as guide, take “prominent subject features, enhance discipline levels, rich discipline connotations” as purpose, regard “base on native, face to the southwest, radiate across the country, look into the vital demand of South Asia and Southeast Asia” as duty. Base on resource endowment, industrialization development stage and the need for sustainable development, FEM is committed to achieving the combination of the strength of “Engineering” and the advantage of “Management”, promoting integration of Mathematics, Computer, Economics and Management. The faculty keep improving discipline direction, soliding subject foundation, introducing innovative talents and deeping international cooperation to build up distinctive subject brand and become the important think tank of serving local economy and social development.

Depending on endemic location advantage, resource advantage and engineering course advantage, FME has formed striking strength and specialty in disciplinary field.

(1)Centering on plateau characteristic modern flower and logistics industry,FME designed auction system and operation mechanism in early phases and has gained a greater success in the area of commodities trading.FME has published many articles in leading journals domestic and overseas and become the model of the circulation system of modern agriculture.

(2)Based on the need of local eco-development, industrial transformation and upgrading, FEM has made useful attempts to enrich sustainable development theory.FME has made immense contribution to the theory and practice of dian-chi protection, manufacturing's transformation and upgrading of Yunnan traditional industries including steel, nonferrous metals and chemical engineering etal., and also green development.

（3）Rely on national characteristic undergraduate program approved earlier, FME pays attention to not only the information system design and management in Chinese context, but also develop fields such as medical care and health management, astronomical data etal., it conducts research about massive information management and information system construction under the background of big data and achieves a breakthrough of approving and initiating key projects of national science foundation of china.

（4）According to the needs of the development of border finance and local finance, FME conducts researches related to peripheral development of RMB, the pricing and risk management of rare and precious metals, derivative products of staple nonferrous metals and asset securitization.FME set up Institute of financial engineering together with Yunnan finance office to further service the development of local finance.

Besides, a big feature of subject is to transport high quality talents in management science and engineering area to southeast Asia and South Asia. Based on the special climate advantage, FME holds a lot of academic meetings and lectures and it become another image of subject development.

Discipline Direction Setting

There are six discipline directions:Operations Management, the research emphasis of this direction is the basic theories and methods of operations and supply chain, mainly including enterprise knowledge inspiration and sharing in the supply chain, supply chain coordination and optimization, lean logistics and system, design and operation of agricultural products logistics system with plateau characteristics, commodities trading under internet etc.

Sustainable Development, the researches of this direction mainly focus on key issues related to the sustainable development of China and regions such as dian-chi protection, ecological civilization construction in multi-national region, sustainable development of underdeveloped area, circular economy, low carbon economy and green innovation.

Information Management and System, based on data and cloud computing, the researches of this direction pay attention to the issues related to information system design, management and decision in the Chinese context. Based on massive data management methods and information system construction technology, researches are conducted in areas of Astronomical data management and retrieval, healthcare etc..

Financial Engineering, this direction mainly involves asset pricing, asset allocation and risk management, devote to the theoretical and applied researches about the pricing of staple commodities and rare metals, regional capital market system construction and product innovation, settlement of small currency and peripheral development of RMB, Internet finance and risk management etc..

Complex Decision, fucusing on difficult problems about the depiction of complex runs situations of different organizations, Systematic intension representation and decision model construction, the studies of this direction concentrate on putting forward innovation theory and method of complex system decisions to frontier issues such as individual preference selection and fusion, collaborative management of innovation team, population evolutionary trend, population pressure and spatial structure optimization.

Systems Engineering, standing on complex problems of systems sciences in regional national economy and social development and focusing on ecological engineering and traffic engineering, the researches of this direction point to the universality, internal relevant and evolution power of management science by using methods of system analysis, system design and systematic comprehensive evaluation.
