ⅠIntroduction

The postdoctoral research station is supported by Geological Resources and Geological Engineering Discipline, which belongs to Earth Sciences department, as one of the most complete and earliest established disciplines in Kunming University of Science and Technology. The Geological Engineering discipline is key and characteristics subject on the provincial level, including 5 second level disciplines: Mineral Resource Prospecting and Exploration, Geological Engineering, Earth Probing and Information Technology, Mineral Resources Economy, Tourism Geology and Geological Relics. There are 64 employees in the discipline, with 12 PhD supervisors, 15 professors, 25 associate professors, 70% of who possess PhD qualifications. Among the faculty members, many of them are selected into national and provincial major talent projects and have received awards, e.g. 1 teacher in “Program for New Century Excellent Talents”, 1 teacher in “New Century Talents” by Ministry of Education, 2 academic and technical leaders of Yunnan Province, 1 teacher awarded “3rd Session of the Huang Jiqing ( Huang T. K. ) Science and Technology Prize” and 1 teacher awarded “Li Siguang Geological Science Award”.

It has three provincial excellent technology innovation teams, including one team in Geological process and mineral resources founded by Yunnan Province, one team of ore-forming dynamics and prediction of concealed deposits founded by Yunnan Province and one team in Southwest Sanjiang mineralization theory and exploration founded by Ministry of Land and Resources. There are seven support platforms at the provincial and ministerial levels, i.e., Engineering Research Center of Western Advantage Resources and Efficient Use founded by the Ministry of Education, State Key Laboratory for Mineral Geology and Geological Environments of Mineral Belts in Western China Co-founded by Yunnan Province and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Yunnan Mineral Resources Laboratory, Yunnan Province Talent Training Base for Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, the fourth batch of Land Resources and Popular Science Base founded by the Ministry of Land and Resources, Popular Science Education Base of Yunnan Province and Popular Science Education Base of Geology founded by the Geological Society of China.

The postdoctoral research station has established 16 professional laboratories and one Geological Museum that cover an area of 2,500 square meters for experiments and researches. It owns different kinds of laboratory equipment and specimens (minerals, rocks, fossil) which value more than 3,000 million Yuan. As one of the university museums with a long history, the Geological Museum has the world's precious rock and fossil specimens. At the same time, as the Popular Science Education Base of Yunnan Province and Popular Science Education Base of Geology founded by the Geological Society of China, the museum is listed into the fourth batch of land resources and popular science base founded by the Ministry of Land and Resources. In the last ten years, the discipline has undertaken hundreds of projects at national, provincial or ministerial levels. The discipline was awarded 6 Yunnan’s Provincial 1nd Prizes, 8 Yunnan’s Provincial 2nd Prizes and 12 Yunnan’s Provincial 3nd Prizes. 35 monographs and teaching materials and more than 1,000 papers have been published.

ⅡMajor Research Direction

The postdoctoral research station of Geological Resources and Geological Engineering has devoted to talent development, scientific research, and social service through 5 main directions: (1) ore-forming dynamics of large or super-large deposits and prediction of concealed deposits; (2) geological relics and national geological parks; (3) hydrogeology & engineering geology and disaster prevention and control of the deep coal mine; (4) integration technology and application of large-scale ore concentrated area; (5) mineral resources economy.

ⅢQualification

1.Ph.D. conferred by a Domestic or foreign universities or research institutes during the past two years.

2.Background of geological resources and geological engineering, mining engineering (mining, mineral processing, safety) and other related disciplines is expected, and background of skills of reading and writing in English and computer application are required.

3.Published at least 1 SCI academic papers.

ⅣBenefit

1.To give the remuneration with the level corresponding to associate professor of Kunming University of Science and Technology (level one or two posts)

2.Salary includes: basic salary + performance pay + work allowance + post-doctoral allowance + group of subsidy: RMB≥160,000 per year. Published paper awards: top journals 600,000; the first district of SCI magazines 100,000; the first district of JCR journals 50,000, two district of JCR journals 20,000.
